Submission Guidelines

1)  You must check this page before submitting a pitch, even if you have submitted before.  Pitches that do not follow the guidelines, including pitches submitted while we are closed for submissions, will be deleted without being read.

2) We review fantasy and science fiction for the most part, with the occasional foray into weird tales, historical fiction with a strong wonder element, and genre-benders. Dark fantasy and dark SF are fine, but we’re not interested in straight horror. We enjoy YA, middle grade and picture books if they also suit our genre tastes. Short fiction is welcome.

3) We do not review erotica or erotic romance. If the word “hot” describes your book, it’s probably not for us even if it has wizards and dragons or happens in space. While we don’t object to sex, violence or strong language in the abstract, excessive amounts put us off. Where’s the line? Outlander and Clan of the Cave Bear would be fine, as would Heinlein’s Friday.

4) Do not send attachments of any type. They will be deleted.

5) To submit a pitch, fill out the contact form below. Your pitch should include your book’s title, length, genre, age group, a brief description and, if available, a link to the book’s listing at your retailer of choice. If your book is selected for review, we will contact you to ask for a file.

6) If your book is self-published, please put “Self” in the publisher field even if you have a business name for your publishing. We are indie-friendly, and it’s much easier to search for “self” than to wade through a sea of press names.
